Sumru, Uygur, Korhan, Elisabetta in front of Karanlıkta Yemek, a venue that organizes events in pitch darkness

Have you ever performed in pitch darkness? I have not. Sumru Ağıryürüyen, singer and improviser extraordinarie, had the idea of us improvising and singing in total darkness to an audience at Karanlık İşler (Dark Dealings in English). We asked and they said yes. So, on December 1, 2013, Sumru, me, singer/actress/improviser Elisabetta Lanfredini and cellist/improviser Uygur Vural will play a concert of freely improvised music as well as songs from Turkey and Italy, ranging from an abstract instant of free improv to a lullaby from Italy followed by an Armenian song.

Karanlık İşler is in the historic quarter of Galata in Istanbul. The concert will start at 8.00pm. Tickets are available at the door and cost 40TL, including a glass of wine.
