Lotz / Erel

KORHAN EREL
COMPUTER, CONTROLLERS, SOUND PROCESSING

MARK ALBAN LOTZ
PICOLLO, C-, ALTO-, BASS-, PVC CONTRA BASS FLUTES, PREPARED FLUTE, FLÖTOPHON, BANSURI

A fresh collaboration between two contemporaries in improvisation and composition, merging influences from diverse musical and sonic backgrounds. Computer sounds and textures played with various controllers come together with a vast selection of flutes and playing techniques to create an energetic flow of spontaneous ideas. Lotz/Erel generate a sparse and elegant atmosphere of surprise and tension as they communicate through tones, sounds, textures and noise. Performances as trio with Robert van Heumen, Wolter Wierbos, Eric Boeren, Han Buhrs, Harald Austbo, Sevket Akinci.

Istanbul based computer musician Korhan Erel and Holland based multi flutist Mark Alban Lotz recorded the CD ‘Mark Lotz/Islak Köpek’. This CD also features many duets by Lotz/Erel (Evil Rabbit Records)

Mark and Korhan are the initiators of IstanPOOL, a sextet consisting of three musicians each from the Netherlands and Turkey: Michael Moore and Mark Alban Lotz on winds, Şevket Akıncı and Giray Gürkal (both in Islak Köpek) on guitars, and Robert van Heumen and Korhan Erel on computers. See upcoming concerts for IstanPOOL’s concerts in the Netherlands in October.
